Saint Johns College Archive: The Saint Johns Archive is very simple and straight forward in its layout. You can brouse the collection through the full archive list or through their collection lists which neatly organize the nature of the archive material. The color palet is simple of the web deisgn opting for a few colors, orange and white being the main ones. The font package is legible and feels cohesive. every entry has thorough catalog and item information. The archive uses a tag system to group entries such as ” journals” or “newspapers.” The archives material ranges in history and in content, capturing a wide array of moments in SJC’s legacy.
National Mall History: This site has a rich catalogue, and densely packed recources that aid in the users exploration of history in DC. The about page is a great place to start as it explains al of the functions and features of the site. The interactive map is well designed and works well as a visualizer for users. This site contexualised the archive extremely well. While the Saint Johns archive is well organised, it lacks some clear direction in contexualising history. The national Mall site peaks your interest, while maintaining a proffesional archive catalougue. Some of the features such as the explorations tab can be a little cluttered and in need of some organisation. with a little time and reading on the about page most features are pretty straight forward however I can see some difficulty for some folks with the layout.
